Earlier today, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care announced that major strides have been made in the NHS' work in tackling the NHS backlog caused by Covid.
Figures show that over 22,500 patients have now been treated, all but eliminating the longest of wait times. Thanks to the amazing work of NHS staff, including those in our own area, and the role of community-based diagnostics, the NHS has now delivered on its first major target in its Elective Recovery Plan.
Whilst there is still much work to do across the NHS post-pandemic, especially in terms of wait times, this news shows what can be done.
I will continue to champion our healthcare workers as well as new, innovative community-based healthcare to ensure that everyone across Carshalton and Wallington can get the healthcare they need.
