Protect St Helier and build a new local hospital

On Friday 1st March, I hosted an Adjournment Debate on the progress of St Helier hospital and the delivery of a new state of the art hospital in Sutton. It is this Conservative Government that is delivering this vital project and prioritising our local healthcare.

On the 11th January, I asked the Leader of the House, Penny Mordaunt MP, if we could have a debate in Government time on the progress in delivering the New Hospital Programme and discuss the benefits that it will bring to residents of Carshalton and Wallington.

The Government have put forward plans to protect care home, hospital and hospice visiting. Last week the Government announced that visits to see loved ones in care homes, hospitals and hospices will be better protected.

Really enjoyed welcoming Rt Hon Greg Hands MP, the Chairman of the Conservative Party, to St Helier yesterday alongside local ward councillor Wendy Clark.

The Government has today announced £20 billion in funding for the New Hospital Programme.

Earlier today, I highlighted the current situation surrounding our local healthcare services in Carshalton and Wallington - right here in Parliament. What's more, I did so directly with the Minister.

Elliot Colburn MP has secured assurances from a Government minister that the new hospital mooted for Sutton will go ahead.

Earlier today, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care announced that major strides have been made in the NHS' work in tackling the NHS backlog caused by Covid.

The Department for Health and Social Care has today announced a call for evidence to inform a new 10-year plan to improve mental health.
