I’ve been clear from the start - way before the Mayor of London’s consultation even began - that expanding ULEZ was a folly.
A punitive hit for those least well off in society, including charities, small businesses, families, and older people. This isn’t about clean air - it’s about making money.
I’m glad to stand with Paul Scully MP this evening to issue the following letter ahead of the Council meeting on the ULEZ expansion.
Conservative MPs, councils, councillors, and Assembly Members have stood together and stood strong in the face of the prospect of ULEZ expansion. We all rightfully cheered at the news the other week that the five Conservative Councils were successful in getting their Judicial Review challenge against the expansion heard. But where was Sutton’s Lib Dem Council?
Actions matter.
I’ve met and stood with so many who stand to be affected by the ULEZ expansion, lobbied for a rethink, and I will continue to do so. As I know so many locally will join me in doing so.
The fight against the Mayor’s madcap money making scheme known as ULEZ expansion continues.
