This evening I held a Moped Crime Public Meeting for local residents along with representatives from Sutton Police, Neighbourhood Watch and more.
Anti-social behaviour and crime involving vehicles is something which is frequently raised with me by residents; especially in the Wandle Valley, Beddington and the Wrythe area of the constituency. I have recently received some awful stories where residents have fallen victim to attacks or had their motorbike stolen by local thugs, as well as several complaints about the noise being made well into the night.
Along with Sutton Metropolitan Police officers from local Safer Neighbourhood Teams and Neighbourhood Watch representatives, over 100 residents gathered in All Saints Church in Carshalton to share stories and discuss potential solutions. I was shocked by just how many residents have been personally affected by moped crime and was especially pleased to see so many residents attending in support of a Wrythe resident who had recently been attacked by youths on mopeds attempting to steal his motorbike.
The main message from the evening, and one I can't stress enough, is the importance of Report, Report, Report. The more information and data local police teams can gather from residents about the movements of these criminals, the more action they can take to prevent further incidents from happening again. I have listed below the contact information for each ward's Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team, as well as the online tool to find out which SNT you fall under. If you have reported a crime and are not satisfied with the response you have received, please do not hesitate to get in touch and I'll always be happy to speak to the police on your behalf.
You can report a crime in the below following ways:
1. Report an Emergency/ A Crime In Progress: Dial 999
2. Report A Crime By Phone: Dial 101
3. Online Met Police Report A Crime
4. 100% Anonymous CrimeStoppers Report Online Tool.

Sutton Neighbourhood Watch
Your local Neighbourhood Watch is also a great way to keep our communities safe and build a picture of the type of crime happening in your area. Each ward has a Neighbourhood Watch team who can help provide advice and support when dealing with issues in your community. Local NW teams such as Hackbridge have seen real success with implementing preventative measures against local crime from their crime reporting so please do not hesitate to get in touch here.
