Rail Survey

Since Covid, many of our usual habits have changed, including how we travel.

That is why I want to hear from you about how you use the railways.

Rail operators are taking decisions about the future of rail services, and I want to ensure that Carshalton and Wallington residents are properly listened to before they do so.

The Rail Delivery Group (RDG) – the independent rail industry membership body that covers the rail industry – has announced plans to phase out most ticket offices in the next three years, including all ticket offices in Carshalton and Wallington.

To replace ticket office staff, many companies are introducing new support staff to help with accessibility and give advice on the sale of ticket through machines or online.

Below are what these changes mean for our local stations:

While I acknowledge that staff will be remaining at stations to help customers, and that for most stations this will mean longer hours of help available, I have heard the concerns of many people who use and rely on the ticket office model. I also have concerns that Hackbridge has been left out for additional hours of help.

I will be feeding back to the rail companies the outcome of this survey, so please do share your views with me!
