This weekend National Grid will be delivering a transformer to the Beddington substation, which could have affects for motorists and other road users.
The transformer will leave Sundon Substation at 05.00 AM on 05 September, travel to Junction 9 on the M25, approximately half-way and then take a break.
The transformer will then leave Junction 6 on the M25 for the A22, the A23, onto Beddington farm Road, Coomber Way, the B272 and is expected to arrive at the Beddington substation at about 02.00 AM on 06 September.
Residences and businesses most likely to be impacted by the delivery have been sent the attached letter.
To support the delivery, they’ll be removing some street furniture along the route and carrying out some minor vegetation management, such as trimming trees. I've been assured that they have carefully planned the route with their specialist haulage contractors, and the local highway authorities, to minimise the disruption to road users. The lorry will have a police escort to help manage traffic and make the process as smooth and safe as possible.
They will not need to suspend parking on the route, however, if a vehicle is found to be causing an illegal obstruction it may be moved to a safe location by their specialised removal vehicle.
For any further details please do not hesitate to get in touch with National Grid's community relations team on 0800 073 1047. They’re available daily from 7am to 7pm.
