Govia Thameslink Railway, who operate Southern’s train services, have announced upcoming changes to their timetable, which will go into effect on Sunday 5th September.
The updates to the timetable will centre around off-peak and weekend routes, whilst commuting services and their frequency will remain unchanged.
Discounting the route via West Croydon, there are currently four trains per hour from Carshalton to Victoria. These consist of the two semi-fast services that take around 30 minutes, and two slower ones taking about 33 minutes, due to calling at extra stations such as Hackbridge and Balham.
However, from 5th September, only the slightly slower services will run during off-peak hours. This will mean a reduction from the current four trains an hour at Carshalton (and Sutton) to two.
There will be no change for those who use Hackbridge station. Likewise, Govia Thameslink Railway have confirmed the frequency or journey time towards Epsom/Dorking will remain unchanged, but that the departure times per hour will change.
Alongside these changes, the other, slower route that loops to London Victoria via Wallington and West Croydon is unchanged for Monday through to Saturday. However, on Sundays, the frequency will now be half-hourly with eight carriage trains. This will match the Monday to Saturday operations (as opposed to the current 4 carriage trains calling every 15 minutes).
Journey planners have been updated and are now showing the new timetables.
