Since launching my first ever Local Pub of the Year competition the other week, it’s been great to see both pubs and residents embracing it!
What’s more - we’ve already had over 300 people take part in voting for their favourite local! Whilst there are still a few weeks left to go before the winners are announced, this initial uptick in votes demonstrates what I’ve believed for a long time. That people care about their pubs and the role that they play within our communities, as places to connect, de-stress and have a good time.
Throughout the pandemic, I saw how incredibly tough it was for pubs to have to shut, often through some of their busiest times of the year. However, since we’ve begun to recover from the pandemic, and people have started to return, now is the time to ensure that our pubs, and the people who run them, are recognised and have the support they need to strive.
Without them, our streets – and indeed our communities – would be empty, so I hope you’ll get involved with the competition by voting for your favourite pub. In fact, casting your vote couldn’t be easier. Simply head to elliotcolburn.co.uk/puboftheyear and choose your local from the list. Feel a bit spoilt for choice? Don’t worry – there are three options: best local independent, best local chain, best local brewery/taphouse.
You can find out more about the competition and why I set it up in my video update above.
