This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Fur Farming Prohibition Act.
So, it was great to join Four Paws, Humane Society International, TV-personality and animal welfare campaigner Pete Wicks, and countless MPs and Lords yesterday to celebrate how far we've come as a country regarding fur use.
However, what is clear is that we still have much further to go even after twenty years since fur farming in the UK was banned, including with the very pressing need to ban the import of fur in the UK so that we can truly achieve a #FurFreeBritain.
The Government has a strong record on animal welfare, but this work must continue - at pace.
I will continue to lobby the Government and Ministers to ensure that animal welfare remains a key priority, as it was in our manifesto, as residents continually ask for, and what's more, because it's the right thing to do.
