A thriving local economy

Local residents want a thriving local High Street to shop, spend time and meet people, so I will be pushing for regeneration funding to support local businesses and help our High Streets compete.

By improving our High Streets and attracting more quality jobs to the area, we can make Carshalton and Wallington and even better place to live, work and raise a family.

Wallington Business Improvement District

Other parts of the Borough have benefitted when local businesses come together to form a Business Improvement District (BID).

BIDs provide additional or improved services, identified by the local businesses. This could include extra safety, cleaning or environmental measures.

BIDs are business-led organisations. They’re funded by a mandatory levy on all eligible businesses after a successful ballot.

I believe Wallington could benefit from having a BID to help make it a more attractive place to shop and spend time, so I will be working with local business owners to see if there is any appetite to get this off the ground.

Protecting our heritage

We are lucky, especially around Carshalton village, to have a large number of heritage sites that tell the story of our past.

I want to see Carshalton's conservation area given real clout to ensure it remains an attractive place to shop and spend time with others.

Free Parking

The 2018 Sutton Conservatives manifesto for Sutton Council pledged at least 1 hour of free parking.

I think this would give our High Streets a real boost, allowing people to quickly park and shop locally, so I want to see this policy adopted to give our local business a boost.
