A thriving local economy

Local residents want a thriving local High Street to shop, spend time and meet people, so I will be pushing for regeneration funding to support local businesses and help our High Streets compete.

By improving our High Streets and attracting more quality jobs to the area, we can make Carshalton and Wallington and even better place to live, work and raise a family.

Our small and independent local businesses have been closed throughout much of the Coronavirus pandemic, so I will do all I can to help them bounce back.

Local Bank Branches will remain open

Following the recent closure of our local bank branch for Barclays in Woodcote Road, I recently wrote to TSB, Santander, NatWest, Nationwide, HSBC to ensure that our local branches for these banks, plan to stay open.

Our New Local Business Forum

I recently organised a meeting with local businesses from across our area to launch our new Carshalton & Wallington Business Forum. Paul Scully MP, the Minister for Small Business, attended the meeting, too!

Supporting Local Breweries

I welcome the landmark announcement in the recent Budget that a lower rate of duty will be introduced on draught beer.

However, the new lower rate will only apply to beer placed in containers of at least 40 litres in size.
