I was delighted to visit the Ruffett & Big Wood in the Clockhouse area of Carshalton and Wallington today with the Woodland Trust.
Designated as a Local Nature Reserve, these two woods are a fantastic addition to a countryside walk. On a clear day it provides fantastic views over London, and I was very happy to visit on such a clear day and see the view for myself!
The Woodland Trust took me around the Wood to show me the work they and the volunteers have been doing to maintain the wood and encourage new growth, but also discuss some of the challenges they face such as anti-social behaviour, littering and even illegal fires.
We are incredibly lucky to have a wooded area like this on our doorstep, and the Woodland Trust do fantastic work in maintaining it, so I am pleased to be able to work with them to ensure it is well looked after.
If you've never visited before, pop on down and take a stroll for yourself!
