I've been working closely with the beer and pubs trade to press for much greater support for the industry.
In recent weeks, our pubs, restaurants and hospitality businesses in Carshalton and Wallington have been in touch to tell me about the struggles they have been having, so today I asked the Leader of the Commons for a debate about support for hospitality so we can help them to thrive once the pandemic has passed.
I welcomed his clear call for us all to support our pubs: in the Leader's words, "it will be our patriotic duty to go and drink a yard of ale".
I will continue to speak with the pubs in our area and with the wider sector, as well as with colleagues across the House, to press for better support as we come out of the Christmas period and into the New Year.
