As the Vice Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on HIV and AIDS, I have today written - alongside the Chief Executives of the National AIDS Trust, the Terrence Higgins Trust, and the National Pharmacy Association - to the Chief Executive of NHS England to call for wider access to the HIV prevention drug PrEP.
I have been working closely with all three organisations for several months to explore how we can ensure much wider awareness of, and access to, PrEP, as this is a key plank in meeting our ambitions of ending all new cases of HIV by 2030.
We welcome the news that NHS England has begun initial discussions about access to PrEP in community settings, specifically via our fantastic community pharmacy sector.
As a London MP, I am very keen to support a pilot of this across the capital.
