I was delighted to attend the launch of the NHS Parliamentary Awards 2020 today.
The NHS Parliamentary Awards launched in 2018 to celebrate the NHS’ 70 birthday and recognise the outstanding contribution of staff, volunteers and others working in the health and care sector.
Now in its third year, the awards have been an overwhelming success with over 450 English Members of Parliament nominating an individual or organisation for an award, almost half of all eligible MPs.
The national and regional judging panels, made up of leading figures across the sector, were blown away the commitment, creativity and brilliance of all those nominated while staff were touched by the appreciation MPs showed for the work going on in health and care across their constituencies.
As a former NHS worker, I know full well how hard NHS staff work to deliver the best possible health and care for local patients. Therefore, I will be submitting nominations for local NHS staff and teams to win one of these awards - they are so well deserved!
