Ethnicity Pay Gap Reporting Debate

Monday, 20 September, 2021

Today I led a Westminster Hall debate to consider e-petition 300105, entitled 'Introduce Mandatory Ethnicity Pay Gap Reporting'.

In this debate, I raised the advantages and potential issues with mandatory ethnicity pay gap reporting and noted that the Government is considering this carefully. I have spoken to many businesses and the petition creator on this issue, who made the case that ethnicity pay gap reporting, much like gender pay gap reporting, could help businesses understand their workforce better, identify barriers and create action plans to tackle then.

I am pleased to hear the Government plans to report back on their analysis to the consultation later this year and I look forward to reading the findings.

Marking Dementia Action Week 2022

Tuesday, 24 May, 2022

Last week I attended an event in Parliament to mark Dementia Action Week 2022. This year’s theme was ‘it’s not called getting old, it’s called getting ill’, focusing on the importance of a dementia diagnosis, reminding people that symptoms such as memory loss are not just a natural part of ageing.
