I am calling on the Chancellor to introduce a specific Draught Beer Duty, at a lower rate than duty for beer sold in supermarkets, to allow us to better support pubs and clubs.
Along with 75 other Conservative MP colleagues, we wrote a joint letter to the Chancellor earlier this week to ask for the Draught Beer Duty as a key way to help pubs, clubs, and brewers in our constituencies thrive and survive as we emerge and recover from the COVID pandemic.
The Treasury is currently considering its response to the Alcohol Duty Review, and I very much hope that this proposal will be taken up.
You can read a copy of the letter, coordinated by my colleague Richard Holder (Member of Parliament for North West Durham), below.
