Today I met virtually with Methodist Homes (MHA) who run the Ryelands home in Carshalton and Wallington.
It was a good opportunity to hear from them about the challenges they have faced during the pandemic to keep their staff and residents safe, and issues facing the wider care sector.
As a former NHS worker, I am passionate about the future of merging health and social care to ensure patients get better outcomes, something I was pleased to be able to speak with MHA about.
We also discussed issues of recruitment and retainment of care worker staff, especially the need to make the care sector a more professionalised industry to encourage others to see it as a career.
I look forward to continuing to work closely with MHA and the care sector in order to ensure a bright future for the care sector.
