This week is #CervicalCancerPreventionWeek.
I’m supporting Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust - who I met last year during Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Week - because I want everyone to know where to find support, information and tips about cervical screening (smear tests), and reliable resources about cervical cancer.
Cervical screening is the best protection against cervical cancer and can be life-saving, but it isn’t always an easy test - especially this year.
COVID and the subsequent lockdowns have made it even harder for many, with additional barriers and uncertainty for some people, meaning that access to trustworthy support and information is more important than ever.
Research by Jo's Trust has shown that one in 10 (9 per cent) say they definitely wouldn’t attend cervical screening currently and 22 per cent are feeling less likely to attend.
While screening services continue across most the country, we know that in some areas practices are unable to carry out cervical screening, or may have less appointments available.
