It was a pleasure to meet so many residents today to discuss the issues many people have been experiencing with anti-social behaviour, especially caused by riders on mopeds, motorbikes and scooters using the cut through between Buckhurst Avenue and Holly Tree Crescent/Ferndale Crescent given how easy it is to get through.
I was sorry to hear about the issues many people have been experiencing, which is clearly causing a nuisance and distress to many residents. It is not acceptable for anyone to intimidate an area and make people feel unsafe.
It appears the problem has been caused by the new layout of the alleyway between Buckhurst Avenue and Holly Tree Crescent/Ferndale Crescent, which is significantly wider than it was when it was the Durand estate. I understand some residents have already been in contact with Rydon, but sadly a solution has not been forthcoming.
I will use this information to approach Rydon, Sutton Council and the Police to discuss these issues and look for a solution.
However, if you are witnessing any crime of anti-social behaviour, please make sure you report it to the Police via 101 or www.met.police.uk, or 999 in emergencies. Even if you feel you are reporting things very frequently, it is important to build up an evidence base and it becomes more difficult for those responsible for making the area secure not to take any action.
In the meantime, I also noticed a few street defects whilst I was on Buckhurst Avenue, such as broken street signage, so I have reported these to the Council to be repaired.
If I can help in any other way, please do not hesitate to contact me.
